If you think you might have a leaking pipe, the easiest way to find out for sure is to shut off all your taps and appliances that use water (you can do this overnight or during the day if you are not home) write down the meter number and after a few hours check your meter.
If the water metre has changed, it means there’s a leak.
The next step is to pinpoint where the leak is. Often, the leaks are around kitchen sinks, shower drains and toilets. The water leaks can also be in the water heater system (this results to higher electricity and water bills).
As mentioned earlier, it’s hard to figure out the location of the leak. It’s especially the case with small leaks. They don’t manifest clear signs yet.
